
Heating Wet Spaces Without the Headache
If you’ve ever tried to heat a locker room or a pool deck, you know the struggle. You turn on the heat, but the air just… disappears. Between the open doors and the constant drafts, traditional heaters are basically useless. You’re just heating the outdoors. That’s why we use shortwave infrared (SWIR). Instead of trying to warm up the air, SWIR goes straight for the target. It beams energy directly onto skin and surfaces. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight on a cold day. You feel it the second you walk under it. No waiting around. No shivering.
Dealing with the Damp
Changing rooms are brutal on equipment. Between the steam and the chlorine, a normal heater will basically melt or short out in a few months. It’s a nightmare. We build these units to an IP65 standard. In plain English? They’re sealed tight. Dust can’t get in, and you can practically blast them with water from any angle without worrying about a spark. We use gaskets that actually hold up against chemicals, so you aren’t replacing the whole system every season.
That “Five-Star” Feeling
To get that instant, cozy warmth, we use high-wattage quartz elements. These things heat up almost the moment you flip the switch. Because the heat is so concentrated, you don’t need to clutter the ceiling with a dozen different units. We pair them with a rugged reflector to push the warmth down toward the floor. Depending on how we angle that reflector, we can either create a focused “hot spot” for a specific bench or spread the warmth across a wider area.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Now, there are a couple of catches. First, these heaters pull a lot of power. You can’t just plug them into any old outlet; your wiring needs to be beefy enough to handle the load, or you’ll run into voltage drops. Second, this is intense heat. You can’t mount these right next to plastic trim or anything that might melt or catch fire. We usually keep them at least 2.1 meters off the floor. It keeps people safe from burns and makes sure the heat spreads out naturally.
