
Why Your Bathroom Needs More Than Just a Heater
Most people think of those infrared bathroom lamps as just a way to stop the shivers when you step out of the shower. But we built these to do a lot more than just keep you warm. They’re actually your best defense against that annoying bathroom mold.
Dealing with the Damp
Here’s the thing: mold loves a stagnant, damp bathroom. It hides in your grout and clings to your tiles. Instead of just warming up the air, we use shortwave infrared (SWIR). Think of it as heat that actually digs in. It penetrates the surface of your tiles and grout, turning that energy into heat the moment it hits. This pushes the moisture right out of the walls. When you have these mounted in your ceiling, they create a “dry zone.” If there’s no condensation, the mold simply has nowhere to live.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
We use a halogen-filled core inside a quartz envelope. Why? Because we want a ton of power packed into a tiny space. Speed is everything here. If the lamp takes too long to warm up, the moisture just moves around instead of disappearing. We designed these to hit peak temperature in a matter of seconds. It’s fast. Really fast. One quick heads-up: make sure your ceiling housing is properly vented. These lamps put out a massive amount of energy, and the fixture can get seriously hot. If there isn’t enough airflow, you’ll likely trip the thermal cutout or, worse, scorch your mounting bracket.
Setting It Up (And Keeping It Running)
We used standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. We did this so you can just pop a new tube in when one eventually burns out. You shouldn’t have to rip apart your bathroom wiring just for a simple replacement. But, a word of warning on the quartz glass:it’s incredibly sensitive. If you touch the glass with your bare fingers, the oils from your skin create a “hot spot.” When the lamp heats up, that one spot stresses the glass until it cracks. Tell your installers to wear gloves or use an alcohol wipe before they flip the switch. It saves a lot of headaches later.
